Rezumat

The article focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the library legal framework. It outlines the requirements for improvements of the following aspects of library legislation – financial support, relation between local and central authority, collection development, copyright, continuing education or librarians, users rights, interlibrary lending etc. In addition, the article provides practical considerations in framing the current legislation on libraries from Republic of Moldova toward European standards.
