Rezumat

Since the declaration of independence of Republic of Moldova, the „ring” – of social workers, that has a clear role for implementing policies at the micro-level was missing. Thus, in 2007 the institutional framework of the social protection was completed with the community social workers that now are working in almost every rural community. The present article is presenting the result of the quantitative study „Community social workers’ profile” that is representative on the sample of community social workers. The article aims to present the straights and the week points of the newly created social work network. There for a detailed description of the social workers background, motivation, perception of the people’s need and perspective view of the national system of social protection is analyzed in the article.
