Participation helps young people obtain self-confidence, respect to their own person, knowledge and skills required to influence various processes. When young people are involved actively and adequately as participants, they develop as human beings. Children and young people must feel that they have a role in the family, school, society and must be able to participate actively. Through participation in democratic processes, children and young people learn to collect data and listen to reasons of other people, thus participation provides them with a very important life skill.
