Rezumat

Some aspects of the impact of globalization processes on the development of social work were analyzed in this article. The author mentions that fundamental changes and social problems, intensified or generated by the globalization, submit new requirements for the training of social workers. Based on the local realities, of their own country, they should be able to activate in an interdependent world, that generate the necessity of the revising of social work knowledge and practices through the international events and perspectives. This condition revived in the recent decades the interest in international social work, a complex and multidimensional concept. A significant role in the formation of the required skills, needed to face global challenges as well as the development of social work at the international dimensions, belongs to higher education, it being under the sign of establishing of a common European area in accordance with the objectives of the Bologna process. In this context, the author elucidates the role of "Global Standards for the Education and Training of the Social profession" (Adelaide 2004) in the promotion of social work as a profession with an international dimension. The author also highlights the special potential of international projects (Tempus, etc.) in the development and internationalization of social work, referring to the beneficial impact of these projects on the development of the Social Work specialty at the Moldova State University.
