SUPERVISION IN SOCIAL WORK: HISTORICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

The development of the social work system cannot be seen outside the development and implementation of supervision.
The research dedicated to supervision in social work highlights a special attention paid to it since the 19th century.
However, the scientific interest and the strengthening of the role of supervision in the professionalisation of social workers
is registered in the 20th century, with established tasks and role. The article analyses some conceptions regarding the
development of supervision stages. At the same time, aspects of the establishment of supervision in Romania, Latvia
and the Republic of Moldova are presented, establishing the role of civil society and academia in this process.
