SOME PARTICULARITIES OF INFORMING PUBLIC OPINION ON TERRORIST ACTIVITY

Abstract
The activity of mass media, oriented to informing the public about the ongoing events, becomes, in contemporary
society, a major one. The role of the media in presenting information is extremely important because, depending on
the way an opinion is expressed, a certain stereotype can be created or countered. For this reason, the issues of media
use in propaganda or manipulation of public opinion are being more and more frequently raised.
The media have a special role to play in preventing and combating terrorism. In this case, apart from the particularities of media activity, we also mention the intention of terrorism supporters to use this platform to promote their
own ideology, influencing public opinion, but also spreading fear among of a large number of people, estimating the
effects on the population that will follow the exposure to the public and the description of the crimes committed, their
consequences etc.
