Rezumat

The present article is a summary of the reproductive process (natural movement) approach of the population of Republic of Moldova through the demographic transition theory, as elucidated phases transition from one demographic type to another. Based on analysis of demographic indicators for a period of 19 and 20 century, the authors argue factors, characteristics, chronology and spatial characteristics of the demographic transition within the territory of the country.
