Abstract

ELEMENTS OF PERSUASION IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE Politics has always represented a high level of interes for society. People have always built negotiations and conflicts around politics. But politics is positioned somewhere between negotiations and conflicts, as a constant of our existence. Political scientists, and also linguists say that the current political discourse is built on the idea of cleavage, political cleavage means the division of the political world into two, three or n… parts. Thus, in the politics of the Republic of Moldova, but also in the world politics, there is the antithesis of good-bad and left-right. In general, the political discourse is characterized more by persuasion, which in its turn appeals to citizens' emotions. The emotions that can be chalenged by a political speech can be different depending on the person receiving the message. A political speech can provoke both sympathy and antipathy or even aggression, both pride and compassion. Keywords: emotions, discourse, speech, politics, persuasion, manipulation.
