Rezumat

The given article is dedicated to the examination of spelling ways of compound consonantal units (affricates) in Romanian and English. In Romanian, each compound consonantal unit has only one spelling way submitted to fixed usage rules, unlike English where several spelling ways for each unit are based on etymological orthography principle.
