Rezumat

The purpose of this article is to give a survey of teaching values at the Department of foreign languages. There are shown the reasons why many teachers do not teach values and there are proposed several strategies for teaching values. The development of cultural understanding while teaching a foreign language may serve as a background for successful language learning.
