Rezumat

In the present article the author highlights the conditions which are considered necessary to perform a good translation of legal texts, especially of those applied in the field of international criminal law. The author also tends to classify the Romanian juridical terminology (relying on international penal terminology). We pointed out that the great majority of terms are borrowings from French. Thus, the imposing quantity of juridical terms makes us say that the process of syntagmatic composition is more productive in juridical terminology than in other specialized terminologies. The starting point of the research is the analysis of the nature of law that considerably influences the process of editing and translating legal texts. Legal translation encounters two major obstacles: the first one refers to the differences in the legal system, and the second one – to the differences in the linguistic system. The article points out possible ways of solving problems the specialists meet in their translation activity
