Abstract

THINK ALOUD PROTOCOLS IN THE STUDY OF TRANSLATION AS PROCESS: methodological aspects The history and theory of translation know different approaches to the analysis of problems, strategies and methods in the field. Recently we observe significant changes in attitude as prescriptive approaches are replaced step by step by the descriptive ones, which respond to the long-standing tendency to make the translation a true science. One consequence of this change of interest is seen in the growing number of empirical studies on translation as a process, because, before an act of communication and textual operation, the translation is an activity concrete subject, that motivates us to ask us about the mental process that triggers the brain of the translator or interpreter at the time of translation.
