THE ALLOTMENT OF THE LAND TO THE ORTODOX CHURCH OF TRANSYLVANIA IN THE FRAME OF AGRARIAN REFORM OF 1921

The Romanian Orthodox Church of Transylvania was wronged under the regime of Habsburg Empire, including the land tenures. The conducted investigations show that after the union of Transylvania with Romania (1918) the expectations of Orthodox clergy regarding the appropriation of agricultural lands were high. The agrarian reform of 1921 only partially met the expectations of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The land proprieties originating from land reform did not corresponded to legal provisions. In spites of all shortcomings, the land reform has improved the financial situation of priests in rural areas.
