Аннотация

With the realization of the reunification of Transylvania with Romania (1918) many Greek Catholic communities decided to move to Orthodoxy. It was the case of the community of the town from Maramuresh - Vereshmort. The examined case showed that the transition from Greek Catholic parishioners to Orthodoxy has resulted in serious problems of economic, moral, and judicial dimension. The study demonstrates that the Romanian state was not strong enough to defend the will of the people, showing some deficiencies or weaknesses. Keywords: Romanian State, Transylvania, the Romanian Orthodox Church, Vereshmort, Greek Catholics, heritage.
