THE LEGEND OF THE GRAND INQUISITOR AND THE PERSON'S ANNIHILATION

Abstract

The essay proposes a new reading grid of the famous dostoevskian text, by starting from the main defining values of the hesychastic tradition, the well-known spiritual phenomenon of the Eastern Christian Church. The identification of these values in the scheme of the text and especially, of their distortion in the context of the totalitarian system proposed by the Grand Inquisitor, together with the analysis of how the obliteration of these values results into the annihilation of the human being, as a spiritual individuality, represent the main lines of our study.
