ROMANIAN IDENTITY IN THE CONTEMPORARY DISPUTE: THE CASE OF LUCIAN BOIA AND VASILE STATI

The article is devoted to the examination of the opinions of L. Boia and V. Stati related to the issue of identity of the inhabitants of Bessarabia. A special attention is paid to their declarations regarding the objectivity of their own studies, also regarding their strict documentation and the sincerity of their problem approach. However, despite these assurances, it was found that both authors are afraid that their work will be immediately attacked by “the enemies”, and they could be accused of betrayal.
