THE ROLE OF CONTEXT AND INTERDISCIPLINARITY IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION POLICY

The paper discusses and analyzes the role of context and interdisciplinarity in educational language policy through the contributions of four leading authors from different cultural or temporal spaces. At the same time, the paper presents different cultural approaches in the process of establishing the methodological framework of sociolinguistics. Two of the authors analyzed are notorious names in the field of language policy in the Anglo-Saxon area. Einar Haugen represents the first generation of sociolinguists, and Robert L. Cooper the second. The other two authors are notorious names in the Latin cultural space: Eugen Coșeriu in the field of language philosophy and the first generation of linguists concerned with the theorizing of sociolinguistics, and Pierre Bourdieu in the field of sociology, represents the first generation of sociologists who have extended their field of research to linguistics.
