Abstract
In this article we aim to analyse the metaphorical expressions of 35 presidential speeches in German and 91 presidential speeches in Romanian, totalling two discursive corpora of over 100.000 words for each language. The discourses will be analysed through the prism of two main models of metaphorical identity: the model of primordial identity (natural) and the model of civic identity (constructed). For identifying metaphorical expressions, we will use the MIP method (Metaphor Identification Procedure) by the Pragglejaz Group and the onomasiological-cognitive method by Olaf Jäkel, and for their interpretation, we will use a combination of methods such as the theoretical model of interpretation of metaphorical expressions based on Zimmermann questions and the model of metaphorical domains proposed by R.Hülsse. Keywords: conceptual metaphor, metaphorical expressions, discourse, discourse analysis, identity.
