DEPRESSION AS AN INDICATION OF THE CAPACITY OF DETAINEN PERSON FOR PSYCHOSOCIAL RECOVERY The article argues a theoretical and formative hypothesis on the methodology of psychological intervention in the case of detained persons, in order to identify subjects with sufficient potential for psychosocial recovery. The authors of the article support the hypothesis that depression is a positive sign for the involvement of persons in psychological counseling and psychotherapy programs. This position is argued by invoking and analyzing Klein's concepts of schizoparanoid position and depressive position, and Winnicott's concept of capacity for concern. The article argues the relevance of these concepts for the process of developing a pertinent methodology for diagnosing, formulating the prognosis, and developing psychological counseling programs for inmates. Keywords: depression, psychosocial recovery, inmate, schizoparanoid position, depressive position, capacity for concern.
