PROTECTIVE FACTORS OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHILDHOOD UPON THE ADULT LIFE This article presents the data of a research about the consequences of childhood sexual abuse on adult life through the knowledge of protective factors. The research was conducted in the Republic of Moldova and is based on a methodological approach centered on understanding and explaining the behavior of victims of sexual abuse in childhood who have accessed counseling services from psychologists and psychiatrists after the age of 18. Primary data were collected using the survey method, based on a questionnaire of 50 specialists (48 psychologists and 2 psychiatrists) providing counseling services in state and private institutions and 20 individual detailed interviews with specialists (19 psychologists and 1 psychiatrist) who have had practical experience in counseling cases of sexual abuse in childhood.
