FORMATION OF THE READING COMPETENCE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH FAIRY TALES This article approaches the process of reading from a theoretical point of view. We insist on the way of forming the reading competence suggested by some researchers in the field (Vlad Pîslaru, Paul Cornea, Maria Hadîrcă, Nicolae Manolescu, Constantin Schiopu). The article highlights the importance of fairy tales as a genre of children's literature in the formation of literary-artistic competence in primary school students, and emphasizes the importance of methods applied by the teacher to stimulate interest in reading fairy tales and gives examples of active-participatory methods that can be used in the classroom in order to stimulate the interest in reading.
