Abstract

In the paper the author presents brief description of the nanoscale phonon engineering concept, i.e. concept of a tuning the phonon energy spectrum in order to change the ability of nanostructures to conduct heat or electric current. He also reviews a theoretical approach for thermal conductivity modeling at nanoscale. A special attention is given to the role of phonon boundary scattering on the thermal conductivity of nanostructures.
