Abstract

In this paper we have developed two-parametric model of lattice dynamics for bulk materials with diamond-type crystal lattices (like as Si or Ge). The parameters of the model were determined from the comparison between theoretical and experimental phonon energy dispersions for bulk Si and Ge. In the framework of developed model we have investigated the phonon properties and thermal transport in bulk Si and Ge and have obtained the thermal conductivity in a good agreement with experimental data in a wide range of the temperatures 80 – 500 K.
