COMMENTARY – THE GENRE OF THE MULTIPLE POSSIBILITIES OF CONTEMPORARY JOURNALISM

Abstract
In the era of communication and information technologies, there are changes of proportions in all fields of the journalistic activity. Mass media institutions/editions are subjected to convergence, the journalist's professional work becomes multifunctional, acquiring a universal character. The new technologies are increasingly influencing the journalistic genres as well, diversifying them and giving them new characteristics regarding how to approach and reflect reality. In this context, in recent years, the commentary has also changed substantially, both as a genre and as a method of contemporary journalism. In this article, the author, on the basis of his experience gained in teaching opinion and commentary genres, undertakes an analysis of the evolution of commentary and the new forms of its manifestation as a genre and method of journalism, in the conditions of the information society. Moreover, he comes with conclusions and reasonings regarding the active/plenary exploitation of the possibilities opened up by the new technologies for the commentary as a genre, but also the expansion of its area as a method of collaboration with the other journalistic genres in newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online press, to which it gives meaning and solidity.
