RECENT GLOBAL MUTATIONS IN FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT

Abstract
Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a component of the global financial system and an important factor of economic development. The purpose of the conducted research was to present the recent global evolution of FDI.
The study was carried out on the basis of UNCTAD reports and examination of the views of experts in the field
addressed. The analysis carried out demonstrates the general downward trend in the level of FDI worldwide under
the impact of the global economic and financial crisis. During the last decade, there has been a shift in the main
share of FDI flows in developed economies towards developing ones. Also, noteworthy are the qualitative changes
in global FDI flows. The given article presents a synthetic picture of the world evolution of FDI, offering a generalized vision of the object of study.
