Transformation processes in the CEE countries took place at different speeds and depths, because of which the CEE countries were divided into leading states and second-tier states. Unevenness is characteristic of a market economy and is a development stimulus. Possessing specific features, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe have a significant impact on the consequences of EU enlargement. The study of the specifics of the development of these countries in the process of European integration is of particular importance for other countries in the process of transformation, including the Republic of Moldova.
