Abstract
STUDY OF THE EFFECTS OF EXOPOLYSACCHARIDES SELENIZED ON RADICULAR MERISTEMS AT ALLIUM CEPA L.
This paper aims to test the action of exopolyisaccharides isolated from Spirulina platensis and modified by selenization (Se-EPS) on processes from radicular meristems to test-plants. Effects of different concentrations of Se-EPS (0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mg / ml) on the germination capacity of onion seeds and on the mitotic activity of root meristematic cells were studied. It has been found that Se-EPS solutions in the concentrations used have a bioinhibitory effect on seed germination capacity and mitotic division of root meristematic cells. Extrapolation of these results may present opportunities in the prevention and therapeutic treatments of cancer.
Keywords: modified exopolysaccharides, selenization, germination, mitotic activity, bioinhibitory effect.
