Abstract
There is described the synthesis, structure and magneto-chemical investigation of a new series of copper(II) complexes with substituted salicylaldehyde thiocarbohydrazone. The ligands were obtained by condensation of thiocarbohydrazide with the respective salicylaldehyde (its 3-methoxy-, 3-ethoxy- and 3,5-di-Br derivatives). The formation of binuclear copper(II) complexes containing as ligand its three- deprotonated form was observed. The donor atom sites used by the ligand for the coordination to the copper(II) are nonequivalent: ONN and SNO. Magnetic measurements of the complexes in the temperature range 2-290K indicated the antiferromagnetic interactions between the paramagnetic copper(II) ions.
