Abstract

The current paper presents the results of evaluation of maize collection samples based on moisture yield. Cob parameters and kernel ripening period served as criteria. As a result of the research, two promising self-pollinated lines were identified, which can serve as a source of the desired genes. Molecular identification of toxigenic fungi producing aflatoxins, fumonisins and trichothecenes and their specification, according to the maize genotype, was carried out. The mycological evaluation of the phytosanitary status of maize kernels at the physiological maturity stage revealed the following toxigenic species: F. gramineraum, F. verticillioides, F. proliferatum, A. flavus, A. parasiticus. The most infected lines were MAH2459 and MAH2461, in whose grains 5 species of toxigenic fungi were detected. The least infected was the MAH2452 line – only F. verticillioides was identified in grain samples. Keywords: maize, mycotoxins, PCR, ear rot, collection samples.
