Abstract

INVASIVE AND POTENTIALLY INVASIVE ALIEN PLANT SPECIES IN THE CULTURAL-NATURAL RESERVE „ORHEIUL VECHI" The flora of the villages of Butuceni and Morovaia in the area of Orheiul Vechi was studied. On the territory of the cultural-natural reserve „Orheiul Vechi” the presence of some invasive and potentially invasive species has been confirmed, among which some species have been introduced intentionally and uncontrolled into the culture. The following species were identified in the Orheiul Vechi protected area: Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle, Acer negundo L., Robinia pseudoacacia L., Lycium barbarum L., Morus alba L., Elaeagnus angustifolia L., Solidago canadensis L., Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Erigeron canadensis L., Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers., Helianthus tuberosus L., Iva xanthiifolia Nutt., Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers., Xanthium orientale L. subsp. italicum (Moretti) Greuter., some of which present great signs of concern for the EU. Due to the importance of the cultural and natural elements of the „Orheiul Vechi” site, the authorities must monitor the intentional introduction of plant species into the reserve in order to avoid problems related to plant invasions. Keywords: protected area, biodiversity, invasive species, monitoring.
