Abstract

The effects of phosphorus (P) and iron (Fe) supply on nitrogen concentration in vegetative organs of soybean plants grown in well-watered and stressed conditions have been studied. Experimental results have been established that adequate P and Fe nutrition increased signifi cantly the concentration of nitrogen in leaves and nodules indifferent of moisture level of soil. Fe supplemental application induced the production of nitrogen compounds in well-watered as well as in plants subjected to water stress conditions. The combined supply of P and Fe increased plant productivity in both normal and water stress conditions. Hence, the adequate mineral nutrition of soybean contributes to maintain physiological activity and to reduce the negative impact of drought on the plant production.
