Abstract

The present study analyzes the process of creating and organizing research centers and training specialists within
the Department of Human and Animal Physiology at the Faculty of Biology and Pedology of the Chisinau State University during the period 1946-1960. Physiological science in the Moldavian SSR experienced a difficult course due
to the historical and ideological context, and ideological control was very significant in both the organizational and
teaching processes, which directly influenced the quality of studies and the development of physiology as a science.
The study also presents brief biographical data of the first teaching staff, the process of equipping the department and
the first successes of university education in the field of human and animal physiology.
