Abstract
Micromycetes isolated from soil, air, and plants are already widely used in biotechnology for the production of
enzymes, antibiotics, human proteins, etc. In this context, aquatic micromycetes represent an emerging area with
great potential in the production of bioactive molecules. As a result of the study of micromycetes isolated from the
“Valea Trandafirilor” lake, Chisinau municipality, it was found that the fungal community in the lake is dense and
diverse. Out of 105 strains of micromycetes isolated in pure culture, representatives of 14 genera were identified. The
evaluation of the enzymatic potential of the isolated strains allowed the selection of strains with significant enzymatic
activity. Thus, we can conclude that lakes can be a source of micromycetes with valuable potential for biotechnology.
