Abstract
This article presents the results of the study on the morphophysiological characteristics of the cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis strain, cultivated on nutrient media supplemented with mineral waters. Research has shown that the use of culture media based on mineral waters favors the appearance of a spiraling tendency of the filaments of the analyzed Spirulina platensis strain. Also, these media determine the reduction of the filament dimensions, as well as the morphometric parameters of the cells – height, diameter, and surface. At the same time, cultivation on nutrient media prepared with mineral waters leads to the acceleration of the growth rate of the cyanobacterium and to the obtaining of a biomass comparable to that obtained in the standard media used for Spirulina. Therefore, it can be concluded that mineral waters can be utilized and used as a nutrient solvent for the cultivation of the cyanobacterium Spirulina platensis under the conditions of the Republic of Moldova.
