Abstract

The phenomenon studied and the results described in the article reflect the period of occurrence and the meteorological and climatic impact of the frosts in the spring of 2025, which occurred at the beginning of the natural period of active vegetation of agricultural crops. Low temperatures during the cold season are normal and rarely have a negative impact on crops. However, nighttime temperatures falling below 0°C in spring, when trees, vines, and autumn crops are in their active growth phase, cause major economic damage. The results mentioned in the article demonstrate the mechanism by which the April frosts manifested themselves, as well as the impact on crops and the consequences reflected in the compromise of harvests and the damage calculated by the competent institutions. Thus, the manifestation of this meteorological and climatic phenomenon had a major impact on crops, causing damage incomparable to the frosts of the last 15 years.
