Abstract

Parasitological research was conducted in the Central-Southern area of the Republic of Moldova in order to esta-blish the extent and intensity of ectoparasite infestation in domestic palmipeds (ducks). 105 ducks (Anas platyrhyn-chos domesticus) aged 1-2 years were investigated parasitologically, in which infestation with 6 species of ma-lophagous mites (Trinoton querquedulae, Anatoecus icterodes, Anatoecus dentatus, Anaticola crassicornis, Anaticolaanserinum, Menopon obscurum) and one species of gamasid mites (Dermanyssus gallinae) was established. In ducks infested with ectoparasites, a reduction in the number of erythrocytes by 34.0%, in the amount of he-moglobin - by 27.3% and in platelets - by 17.7%, compared to reference values, and the number of leukocytes wereincreased by 10.4%, the level of lymphocytes, decreased by 36.2%. A superiority of monocytes were established, reaching the level of 32.6%. ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) indices were increased by 35.9%, and the numberof eosinophils increased by 31.1%, compared to reference values. Keywords: ducks, ectoparasites, infestations, malophagous, mites, hematological indices, extensiveness.
