Abstract

The rare species found in the steppe sector „Clișcăuți” constitute an essential biological treasure for maintaining biodiversity in the northern part of the country. Within this framework, recent research has identified a new sector of exceptional floristic value in the Sîngerei District, near the village of Clișcăuți. This 17.07-hectare site shelters a remarkable diversity of 96 plant species, including four rarities protected by national and international laws: Crambe tataria Sebeok, Bellevalia sarmatica (Georgi) Woronow, Asparagus officinalis L., and Astragalus dasyanthus Pallas. Because the current protection network is insufficient for the Bălți Steppe, the urgent establishment of the Clișcăuți sector as a state-protected area is required. This measure is considered a national priority for saving the plant gene pool and ensuring the in situ conservation of rare species within this sector.
