Abstract

Over the past 30 years, the territory of the Republic of Moldova has been exposed to a deficit of atmospheric precipitation at various times of the year, leading to the natural phenomenon of drought. This article presents the results of a case study on the impact of this climatic phenomenon, analyzing the synoptic characteristics of the drought in the summer of 2025, the administrative districts of the Republic of Moldova affected by drought, its typology, and its impact on the national economy and the environment. The drought in 2025 shows that, over the last three decades, drought has been a constant phenomenon in the south and southeast of the Republic of Moldova, caused by both global warming and anthropogenic pressure on the environment.
