Abstract

The study analyzes the structure of the avifaunal community in the Danceni-Nimoreni peri-urban area (Republic of Moldova), integrating systematic field observations with data extracted from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) platform for the 2015–2025 period. The results reveal a rich biodiversity, with 145 species belonging to 18 orders being inventoried. Statistical analysis indicates a stable community with a Shannon diversity index of 3.15, a value reflecting cumulative diversity over the monitored decade. The dominance of species with high ecological plas- ticity (Chroicocephalus ridibundus, Sturnus vulgaris) was observed, alongside the site’s role as a habitat for globally and European-level vulnerable (VU) species, such as Aythya ferina and Streptopelia turtur. The integration of digital data provided a robust temporal resolution, essential for substantiating protection measures for this biodiversity hotspot.
