Abstract
Research on pollen viability and germination capacity has a practical importance related to the quantity and qua- lity of the predictable harvest under optimal pollination conditions of plum varieties, and a theoretical value correla- ted with their potential use as parents in breeding work. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the fertility, viability and germination capacity of pollen in some late plum varieties of local origin (Udlinionnaia, Super Prezident) and foreign selection (President, Stanley). As a result of the research carried out, we can conclude that the plum varieties had a pollen germination capacity of over 25%, which is considered a threshold for satisfactory germination for this species. Thus, the studied varieties are characterized by good pollen germination rates, including in conditions of insufficient humidity (35%).
