Abstract

SORPTION AND CATALYTIC PROPRIETIES OF AL-PILLARED MONTMORILLONITE The luminol chemiluminescence effect presents an effective procedure for comparative assessment of the catalytic activity of the catalysts. It was found that the most pronounced catalytic effect, having a chemiluminescence intensity about 18 times higher compared to the control sample, possess Al-pillared montmorillonite, obtained at initial molar ratio OH-/Al3+ 2:1, afterwards calcined at 450oC and transformed into H-form. This sample also possess better efficiency (94%) of oxidation of the methyl-orange in the presence of H2O2 and more enhanced Brönsted acidity. Keywords: montmorillonite, pillared adsorbents, methyl-orange, chemiluminescence.
