Abstract

THE CONTENT OF SOME HEAVY METALS IN POLLEN COLLECTED BY HONEY BEES AND ITS RELATION WITH ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

In this paper are exposed results of research of heavy metal concentrations (HM): Pb, Cd and Cu in environmental components (soil, flowers), have been taken from the flying range of bees and the pollen have been taken from collectors attached to the hives. It was found, that the highest content of HM (except Cu) has been recorded in pollen collected from the industrial site, but Cu- from the agricultural site and, the lowest concentration of HM has been recorded in pollen collected from the forest site. The HM concentrations in investigated pollen has not exceeded the maximum allowable established by European standards. Between the concentration of heavy metals in environmental components and pollen there is a positive fairly close linear correlation. The Pearson correlation coefficient (rxy) were: at the Pb=0,96; at the Cd=0,99 and at the Cu=0,92. By using the pollen as bio indicator, has been developed a process for assessing the environmental pollution with HM, registered by AGEPI as invention. Keywords: heavy metals, pollen, flowers, soil, process, evaluation, environmental quality.
