Abstract

EDL FOR MONTMORILLONITE. I. THE INFLUENCE OF Al-PILLARING

It was developed the criterion for delimiting of characteristics for electric double layer (EDL) close to the basal surface and edge surface of pillared Al-montmorillonite, and the EDL characteristics in the Stern model were determined. Depending on the case, for EDL close to the basal surface or edge surface, the main characteristics of Stern layer can be estimated, i.e. the Stern potential Ψδ, chemical specific adsorption energy Ø and charge density σc.
