COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE ACCUMULATION OF STRONTIUM, COPPER, AND IRON UPON CULTIVATION OF SPIRULINA PLANTENSIS IN PRESENCE OF COORDINATIVE HETEROCOMPOUNDS
The influence of two coordinative hetero-compounds of Sr(II) and Cu(II) − CuSr1 and CuSr2 − on the productivity and the accumulation of strontium, copper and iron in Spirulina platensis biomass was studied. It has been established that both hetero-complexes exhibit a stimulating effect on productivity within the concentration limits of 1-7 mg/l, whereas a more pronounced decreasing trend is observed at concentrations of 7-9 mg/l when using the CuSr2 hetero-compound, which contains protonated methyl salicylic acid. The quantity of Cu and Sr accumulated in spirulina biomass increases with the concentration of these elements for CuSr1, reaching maximum values of 1.59 mg% Cu and 1.66-1.70 mg% Sr, or about 1.5 and 1.2 times more, respectively, compared to their content for CuSr2. Both hetero-compounds contribute to the more efficient accumulation of iron from the growth medium (up to 25-26.3 mg%), compared to the reference sample (11.5 mg% Fe) without addition of compounds.
