BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF ESSENTIAL OILS OF LOCAL FORMS OF MENTHA SPICATA L. 

Mentha spicata L. collected from eight different regions of Moldova were analysed to determine essential oil constituents. Ecotypes of M. spicata L. did show quantitative and qualitative differences. Three mint chemotypes were found, depending on component composition – synthesising carvon, linalool or menthol and keto-oxides as the main components. The studied chemotypes showed significant bactericidal and fungicidal activity.
