THE INFLUENCE OF LOW TEMPERATURE OF MODERATE STRESSOR INTENSITY ON INDICES OF RESISTANCE OF CALVES IN EARLY POSTNATAL ONTOGENESIS

This paper presents the results of the study of the action of low temperature of moderate stress intensity on some indices of calves’ resistance in early postnatal ontogenesis (3-30 days). The study was carried out to determine the parameters that can be used as a way to increase the resilience and adaptive capacity of animals to the adverse action of the environment. It was found that the temperature of +5°C used for 1 hour at the age of 3, 8 and 15 days, and for 2 hours at the age of 20, 25, and 30 days leads to an increase of phagocytic and bactericidal activity, and of lysozyme and cortisol. At the same time, it was found that in the experimental group the growth rate of the body weight of the calves in any experimental period was higher compared to that of the animals in the control group and at the age of 30 days was 48.4±1.35 kg in the experimental group and 42.4±1.61 kg in the control group. Keywords: temperature, stress, resistance, calves.
