The numerous scientifi c data regarding historical and biological aspects of transformation of wild brown rat in laboratory animal are summarized in the review. A special consideration was given to the infl uence of anthropogenic factor which favored the increase of animals’ ethological plasticity. Relying on the analysis of neuromediators and neuroendocrine changes by rats’ domestication a supposition about the peculiarities of stress infl uence upon physiological functions by albino rats is made.
