THE COLLECTION OF THE GENUS CORNUS L. FROM THE „ALEXANDRU CIUBOTARU” NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN (INSTITUTE) OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

The collection of the genus Cornus L. of the National Botanical Garden (Institute) „Alexandru Ciubotaru” was
completed with 5 species and 28 new non-native ornamental taxa. The researched taxa (Cornus alba ‚Elegantisima’,
Cornus alba ‚Aurea’, Cornus kousa ‚Samaritan’, Cornus florida ‚Cherokee Brave’) are representatives of corn with
a high degree of decorativeness in terms of habitus, crown, color of stems, leaves, fruits, duration long flowering,
fruiting being determining criteria in landscape art. They are resistant to drought, frost, frost, they do not require special care, only training cuts and compliance with the technology throughout the vegetation period. They are used in
the arrangement of green spaces in the foreground in small groups, in border mixes and hedges of different heights.
