NEW CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY OF SOME MEDICINAL SPECIES FROM THE SCUTELLARIA L. GENUS

The paper refers to seven Scutellaria L. taxa (S. albida L., S. albida ssp. colchica (Rech. f.) Edmond., S. alpina
L., S. altissima L., S. baicalensis Georgi, S. orientalis L. and S. supina L.) introduced and studied in the National
Botanical Garden (Institute) ,,Al. Ciubotaru”. The main morphological characteristics are presented, accompanied
by original photographs of the plants, their importance in folk and modern medicine. The biological peculiarities of
growth and development of Scutellaria plants under ex situ condition are described, which reveal their high adaptive
potential to local pedoclimatic conditions, consecutively realizing all phenological phases starting from the initiation
of vegetation to the full maturation of the seeds.
