ASSESSMENT OF THE DYNAMICS OF THE DEGREE OF SURFACE WATER POLLUTION IN THE CAHUL URBAN ECOSYSTEM

Studies indicate that at all wastewater treatment plants(WWTP) in the Southern Region, the entire volume of wastewater that reaches the WWTP is subject to insufficient purification. The dynamics of the concentration of pollutants
in the water of the Frumoasa River in the Cahul urban ecosystem indicates that the city is undergoing a gradual process of river water pollution. The physical and chemical parameters of the quality of spring water in the city of Cahul
confirm that they do not exceed the MAC, which demonstrates that the anthropogenic impact does not influence the
quality of groundwater. The quality of the purified water at the Cahul WWTP indicates that for practically all pollutants the values indicated in GD 950/2013 Annex 2 are exceeded. These results confirm the fact that all WWTPs, due
to the unsatisfactory degree of purification, serve as sources of essential surface water pollution.
